Tiepolesque

This work on paper was bought at auction in the north of England in 2021 - part of a collection.

The artwork details are as follows:
Red chalk with white chalk highlights on blue paper
Approx. 19 x 28 cm

The collection is unknown as is the artist. It is potentially Venetian, c.17th. It could be an allegory of day or time. The work depicts a female figure of a goddess standing on a globe and it has a Tiepolesque feel.

It is currently backed with another piece of paper so the reverse is not visible. The backing paper has a pound sign and a number so this was likely the price at some point in the past.
